Partnering with DC SHRM to bring the joy of reading to our community
“Ready to Rise” is a collaborative literacy and career readiness initiative launched in partnership with DC SHRM, local children’s book authors, and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington.
The program aims to empower elementary-age children with the core competencies necessary for future workforce success, including resilience, emotional intelligence, positive thinking, and innovation.
The program will officially launch at the DC SHRM Annual Conference in September, where DC SHRM members will be invited to purchase book bundles that promote future workforce competencies. These bundles will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, furthering SHRM’s mission of building stronger communities.
Here is how it works:
Local authors provide books.
Local companies purchase books through sponsorships.
Local kids receive books.
Each book bundle features a carefully curated selection of 6 captivating books aligned with the 2025 DC SHRM Annual Conference theme: People First, Elevating the Employee Experience. The books are written by local authors to ignite imagination, foster critical thinking, resilience, emotional intelligence, positive thinking, technology, innovation and build competencies for future success in the workplace. Get ready to empower young minds!
